Job Overview: As a Peer Support Specialist, you will utilize your personal experience in recovery to provide support and guidance to individuals facing similar challenges. Your role will be crucial in helping clients navigate the behavioral health system, develop coping strategies, and achieve their wellness goals. You will also be responsible for creating, managing, and leading peer support group programs from start to finish.

Salary: $18.24 – $25 per hour (based on proven ability to work independently and industry knowledge)

Key Responsibilities:
- Program Development & Management
- Create and manage peer support group programs from inception to completion, including program structure, organization, execution, and coordination. Ensure all aspects are running smoothly and adapt as needed.
- Group Facilitation
- Lead peer support groups and workshops, both in-office and community-based, focusing on recovery and wellness.
- Marketing & Outreach
- Develop and execute strategies to promote peer support groups, including sourcing venues, creating marketing materials, and building community awareness.
- Documentation & EHR Management
- Maintain client documentation and update the EHR system within 24 hours of service delivery, ensuring compliance.
- Record Keeping & Compliance
- Ensure accurate record-keeping for all case management services, submit mileage reports on time, and maintain adherence to HIPAA standards and company policies.
- Peer Support Services
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and advocacy to individuals in recovery, assisting them in developing and achieving personal goals and navigating the behavioral health system.
- Team Collaboration
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop individualized care plans and attend required supervision sessions.
- Training & Development
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
- Education & Certification:
- High school diploma or GED required; some college coursework in behavioral health is a plus.
- Certification as a Peer Support Specialist from an AHCCCS-recognized program (required before hiring).
- Valid CPR/First Aid certifications.
- Licenses & Clearances:
- Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and a clean driving record.
- Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card (required before hiring).
- Health & Safety Requirements:
- Recent TB test (within the last 6 months) as required for healthcare professionals.
- Drug testing: Random testing may be conducted to ensure a safe and compliant workplace.
- Experience & Skills:
- Minimum of one year in recovery from mental health or substance use disorders.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience in program development or management is a plus.
- Availability & Flexibility:
- Flexible schedule, including availability for weekends and evenings.
- Adaptability to new technologies and tools.
